I had an excellent experience working with this international recruitment company. Ben was fantastic and incredibly thoughtful throughout the entire planning process. We needed special accomodations when it came to billing, and Ben promptly worked it out so that we could book and confirm within our very tight timeframe and invoicing requirements. While the travel days were busy, the itinerary was well organized and balanced, with built-in time to rest over the weekends. Ben was attentive to details such as dietary restrictions, making sure that we were comfortable, and could easily access information about the tours and places we were visiting. All instructions and itineraries were organized and easily accesable and Ben’s leadership was invaluable while navigating us through a typhoon while also maintaining the mission of the trip. This was my first time joining the AEO Tour as a university representative (specifically the Vietnam portion of the Fall 2025 SEA tour) and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The tour was so well organized and gave us access to far more high-quality international schools than I ever could have coordinated on my own. The turnout and caliber of students at each visit were excellent, and it was clear how much thought went into the schedule and planning. Ben was an outstanding leader — energetic, positive, and genuinely invested in making sure everything ran smoothly, especially with situations outside of our control. If there were a Hall of Fame for international recruitment tours, AEO (and the legendary Ben) would have their own wing! From start to finish, this tour was flawlessly organized, packed with meaningful connections, and full of legitimate fun—a rare feat in the world of travel-heavy admissions work.
Ben is not just a tour leader; he’s a community builder, hype man, logistics wizard, honorary big brother, mother bear, and support counselor all rolled into one. The AEO is a very comprehensive tour, packed with school visits on a schedule that wastes no time! The transportation in airplanes, busses and trains worked like clockwork so that we could capitalize on our short time in each city. The Best.

Traveling with AEO Tours was an incredible and excellent experience. Ben and the AEO team do an outstanding job tying to accommodate the needs of students, parents, educators, and college recruiters. Balancing worldwide timezones and the specific needs of attendees is a challenge that was handled very well during this virtual recruitment season. Many claim to have experience in Southeast Asia, but no one knows the region better than Bob Allan and the AEO Tour. All details are carefully considered to allow for the greatest exposure for the students to the colleges/universities and the representatives to the students/counselors/families. The AEO exhibitions are well advertised in each city and attract hundreds of qualified students and their families who are specifically interested in studying in the United States. The contacts made over the years have been an important contributor to the strength of our international student program.
The fairs are phenomenally well attended and while high school students are a relatively small proportion of the attendees we continue to enroll high quality students as a result of our participation on the tour. I have traveled with other groups but remain with AEO as no other tour seems to be able to advertise the fairs as effectively as AEO does.
The AEO Asia tour (Spring 2017) was extremely productive. I had known about AEO, but had not yet selected to go on one. My thoughts now are “why have I not been on this before now?” All stops were perfectly coordinated regarding time and travel, getting us into 4 schools per day. Bob Allan surely knows this region inside and out. The advertisement obviously worked, because we had strong attendance as well at the public exhibitions. I appreciated the balance and number of schools on the tour and could not ask for a more friendly group of representatives to spend time with. The leaders are sincerely interested in ensuring they deliver the most successful tour possible for every type of school.
The AEO Fall Asia Tour was absolutely fabulous. In addition to being well organized, the high school and community college visits allowed the reps to interact with numerous students who were serious about studying in the United States. The highlight of the tour was the fantastic turnout of students and parents at the college fairs held at excellent hotels. There is no doubt Fresno State will enroll several students for our Spring term and a couple dozen students for the next year. Fresno State will definitely join the AEO Tours in the future.
The AEO tour was by far the most productive recruiting trip I have ever undertaken. I was amazed at the extraordinarily large number of students attending each fair, and impressed by the quality of prospects I met. I joined the AEO Tour (East Asia) in Spring 2026, and it was an incredibly valuable experience.
Over the course of about 12 days, we visited around 42 schools across Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The schedule was definitely intense—each day typically involved 5-8 hours on the road and visits to 3–4 schools—but it was absolutely worth it.
If your goal is to connect with high school counselors and promote your institution in a short amount of time, this tour is one of the most efficient ways to do it. In places like Taiwan, for example, AEO is one of the very few organizations that can consistently access local schools, and there’s strong demand from schools to participate each year. That really speaks to how well-established and respected the program is.
The organization of the tour was excellent. Every day, we received clear, detailed updates about the next day’s schedule—venue details (indoor/outdoor), how many materials to prepare, what to expect in terms of travel time, and even practical tips like what to wear. Everything was communicated in advance, which made it easy to stay prepared.
If you want a seamless experience, the all-inclusive option is definitely worth considering. It covers hotels and inter-city flights, which makes the entire trip very convenient and stress-free.
A big shoutout to our tour leader, Ben Wilkey—he was incredibly positive, attentive, and responsive throughout the trip. He managed everything smoothly and created a very supportive environment, so all we had to focus on was engaging with students and counselors.
Overall, I highly recommend this tour. If you’re considering expanding your outreach in East or Southeast Asia and haven’t tried AEO yet, it’s definitely worth experiencing at least once.

To start off, it was such an amazing tour that the business trip did not feel like a business trip. When I heard that this trip was like “family,” to be honest I did laugh at it at first. However, after joining the tour, it was really like family–everyone was so welcoming and fantastic people, so caring and eager to learn about each other and about the students that we are recruiting. There was great synergy that made this tour more awesome than tiring. I would say this was more than possible because of the one who was leading it making the atmosphere that way–Ben Wilkey. I just want to say, you absolutely blew it out of the water with the fairs this week. It was certainly the toughest virtual event I’ve done since COVID started, but definitely the most productive virtual fair in terms of students, high school counts, schools scheduled and universities represented- you did it better than any other big fair organization – this was truly unique. I joked with my colleagues that it was literally me traveling to Asia, but just from the comfort of my home. I know it must have been a lot of hard work in getting those visits together and you were a champ to stay with us the entire time.

I have participated in AEO Tour events, in person and virtually, for the past 20 years. I am always impressed with their knowledge of SE Asia and their ability to get students, parents, school counselors, and others to attend their events. I can directly connect students I met at AEO events to applications received and enrollment at my university. Plus, they make it a fun experience!
Participating on an AEO tour is almost a badge of honor. It’s one of the longest running, ethical and value-added tours. Our 3 colleges are very choosy, but we do not turn down a chance to be on AEO. The quality of the students, the tour itinerary, and the balance of US institutions all work to everyone’s benefit.

I have traveled with AEO Tour since 2015 and it never disappoints. Excellently organized and fast-paced, this tour has everything I’m looking for in a recruitment trip. Bob Allan knows the Southeast Asia market better than anyone else in this business and this is shown by the large number of students attending all of the high school fairs and exhibitions. Also, being a considerably more affordable option than other tours, the return on investment from AEO is by far the best available in this region. AEO also does a great job creating a friendly atmosphere with a good balance of universities attending it.
The AEO Tour has been very productive for us — almost too productive. So far, we have collected 174 undergraduate applications from the Fall AEO tour. With such a large volume of applications, we may be forced to decrease our recruiting efforts in the areas. The AEO Tour, by far, is the most cost-effective way to stimulate applications from international students.
AEO tours care about both the student experience AND the college or university experience when setting up virtual events. Attention to detail is given with clear instructions well in advance of the date of the event. I never feel rushed to have a last-minute practice session or wonder how the program will work….all is made clear.
I’ve been participating in the AEO Tour for 15 years. I stay with this tour because of the good turnout at schools and exhibitions. We increased our enrollment of students from Malaysia from 1 in 2003 to 70 in 2018. The AEO Tour played a big role in this accomplishment.
AEO is always top-notch when it comes to bringing the most excited group of professionals visiting INTI Subang! This JAN2026, AEO brought 12 amazing, university counselors who who were amazing with our students, each which superb ways of channeling and talking to our students in their own special ways. Also, kudos to the Ben Wilkey, the man behind-the-scenes, arranging and making sure each and every counselors is well taken care of and that INTI Subang staff are also well taken care. 5 stars!
I attended my first AEO Tour on behalf of Shoreline College, a community college near Seattle, in April 2026. I joined the group for 2 weeks across Japan and Korea alongside about 15-20 other recruiters, and I loved it!
Ben truly is a homie, and I really appreciated his professionalism, organization, and attention to detail. I also appreciated his wholesome humor, hype energy, and the genuine care he showed to both the needs of us fellow recruiters and, especially, the students and staff we met along the way.
We visited about 2-4 schools each day, and I was really impressed by the caliber and preparedness of the students. I’ll be honest, in many cases, a community colleges like Shoreline wasn’t necessarily on the list for these students who are attending well-resourced international schools and aiming for top universities. However, I had some really meaningful conversations with students who were worried about their grades, concerned about the cost of studying in the U.S., or simply unsure about what they wanted to study.
As one student put it, “I didn’t know community college was an option for me, and I feel so relieved!”
Providing affordable and accessible education is at the heart of our mission as a community college. Knowing that even a few students left our conversations with a new understanding of community college as an affordable pathway to a university degree made the tour worth it for Shoreline. Meeting school counselors and staff, getting to know them, and exchanging contact information was also a huge plus!

I just returned from 4 weeks of recruitment on the AEO Tour, and am once again blown away! Does AEO need yet another 5 star review—i most sincerely doubt it! Ben, the tour organizer, does such a comprehensive & compelling job that his already insane fan base grows with the end of every tour. I have never seen tour groups coalesce as they do on an AEO tour. Best reco for an AEO TOUR? Ask anyone who’s ever participated. I have more than 30 yrs experience in this field & have travelled w/ most if the tour groups over these decades, AEO is simply the best! (PS, he is v kind & helpful to the elderly, LOL!). He seeks out new schools to visit & different opps to interface w/ HS counsellors, all critical and most useful. But simply ask anyone who’s been on the tour, preferably someone u know & trust. Or just take the word of a crusty old road warrior…

This was my first time joining the AEO Tour and I am so glad I went with this company. The tours were well-planned and filled to every minute. I participated in the AEO Tour in Kuala Lumpur in March 2025. It was my first tour with this organization. I must say, I was very impressed. Ben Wilkey was very detail-oriented and knew so much about the schools and local surroundings. He connected us to great schools, where we had good opportunities to converse with students.
Ben runs an incredibly organized, fun and worthwhile tour filled with jam-packed days, camaraderie, good meals, great hotels and even better students. You will not only enjoy yourself on your tour, but your institution will also gain back the investment since you are exposed to so many large groups of students. I would much rather be a part of a tour that is filled with 41 visits and 4 fairs over 2 and a half weeks, rather than not enough events. I went on another shorter tour immediately after the AEO tour that was a much different experience, which made me further realize how valuable my AEO experience was. Ben is punctual, kind, empathetic and fun to hang out with on explorations and meals during free time! He makes sure everyone is healthy, as rested as possible and happy. And he’s great speaking with the students and getting them pumped up too! His positivity, motivational quotes and cheery smile also keeps your spirits up too. Also, his experience of being an admissions counselor in the past is apparent and useful in his planning of the itinerary. Everywhere we went we were on time, the route was logical, and most of the schools visited were worthwhile for our group to visit. Do yourself and your institution a favor by booking with AEO.

Ben is a great leader, the tour was busy, productive, and fun! You do feel like a genuine part of the AEO family after the trip is over, but each visit felt like a worthwhile investment, and you can tell that Ben is passionate about what he is doing and the work that he puts in before, during, and after each tour to make sure it is a fun and productive trip!
